Graduated from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (HKU) with his project Chimera, a textile collection featuring innovative treatments of natural rubber latex (NR-latex). Shai Langen reimagined an industrial technique traditionally used for producing items like gloves and balloons, unlocking new artistic possibilities within this material. His work has since focused on the intersection of materiality, texture, and human interaction, challenging the boundaries between art, design, and the human body.
Langen's fascination with both physical and non-physical bodies drives his exploration of the relationship between the tangible human form and intangible aspects of identity. Using photography and film, he captures his ethereal creations in ways that emphasize their transformative qualities. Through this multidisciplinary approach, Langen challenges traditional perceptions of the body and its interaction with the material world.
